Also a new look to our website!

Greetings from the Hollow Mountain!

As always there has been a lot happening in Cruachan County. Unfortunately Nigel, our bass player, has been suffering with a long illness, which has kept him out of the picture for some time. But he's now back in the saddle and kickin' butt in true style. In the meantime the wheels keep on turning on the Hollow Mountain String Band juggernaut. We've added ceilidh to our repertoire over the past few months, adding yet another string to our collective bow, meaning we can bring you an all singin' all dancin' hoedown that will leave you breathless.

Back in February we were contacted by some fine folks from New York who were celebrating getting married. They had a beautiful ceremony in Kilbride kirk and a fine party in The Barn Bar in Lerags, where the Hiollow Mountaineers played a fine set, with brother of the bride Robby joining in on banjo. A true transatlantic supergroup!

We were also asked to play a further gig for our American friends, this time a ceilidh in a function suite in Oban. This was the first ever Hollow Mountain Hoedown, with a mix of Scottish and American tunes and original compositions bringing a new dimension to ceilidh dancing. It's a great mix of the traditional ceilidh format and American hoedown, with some of the material bringing an unexpected twist to the standard dancing fodder.

This marks a new chapter for the band, and the new addition is already proving popular, with three ceilidhs in as many months. Next up is a 40th birthday party in Tighnabruaich in the Kyles of Bute, with a mixture of listening sets and dances. Rab has been busy learning more and more fiddle with the help and encouragement of Ann, so the sound of twin fiddles will be filling the air, along with the multitude of instruments on display. If you are looking for a band for hire, we can bring our fun foot stompin show to your venue!

Stay tuned for more news coming shortly. In the meantime we'll leave you with some footage from the supergroup in action at The Barn
